Chimera Cyclopedia

According to Greek Mythology, the Chimera was a monstrous fire-breathing hybrid creature, depicted as a lion, with the head of a goat protruding from its back, and a tail that might end with a snake's head.

The term Chimera has come to describe any mythical or fictional animal comprised of disparate parts taken from various animals.

It all started when I lived at our family lodge in a small town called Hluhluwe in South Africa. Combining skeletons I found around the park of various animals (warthog, giraffe, duiker, zebra and more) and my love for ancient mythology, I began to create my own mythical encyclopedia of Chimera's.

The collection is still in creation as I hope to complete a compilation of at least 30 Chimera from locations and animals around the world.

Each of the Chimera within the Cyclopedia has a background story from the world in which it lives.

I hope to publish a book in the next few years that features all the Chimera and their stories.
